The rear cylinder, part 153 602 08, closes the back end of the stroke in a Sandvik rock drill and interfaces directly with the back head, so it carries both the piston's return-stroke impact and the porting that feeds the percussion circuit at that end. Wear here tends to concentrate at the point where the piston reverses direction, which is a narrower band of the bore than the piston's full travel covers.
