The coupling driver, part 550 347 96, transmits rotational drive across a joint designed to accommodate slight misalignment between the two shafts it connects, rather than requiring them to be perfectly coaxial. Because it is the component built to absorb that misalignment, it wears faster than either shaft it connects, and its wear is a normal part of accommodating alignment tolerances that would otherwise stress the shafts directly.
